A friend of mine said something similar about a woman we know who supports herself through her music ministry. I told her the handbag she was eyeing was probably a gift from someone.

I don't think you should feel you need to justify yourself to anyone....you know you are not doing anything wrong. But sadly, the reality is that because of hubby's job, you are in the spotlight a bit...more noticed. And the review stuff...well, you are working to get that stuff....you get it for free, but in exchange for your review (which is work!).

It annoys me to no end when people count my money for me. I'm eminently capable of counting it on my own, thank you very much.

Of course, some people like to run it up the flagpole, and they can be just as annoying. Like the sales types I used to work with, who never missed an opportunity to post pictures of the car they were buying, or whatever chatchkeh they were about to bring home.<

Even if you did actually buy those things, I think people forget about the art of budgeting! That much can be done on a small salary if you are careful. And that you very well could have bought the item, but have been saving for it, or it was within your budget. Funny how people assume. But I agree, free and cheap stuff is awesome!

It is such a blessing to have friends and family who can help out - we also have several very nice things, including a ton of baby stuff that were hand me downs, or given to us from family. I do feel like we have a lot of nice things, and it is a good feeling, but it definitely does not mean we have much money!

I am so with you. My husband and I have some nice stuff- a t.v. a camera etc- but it is all from my parents. They are very giving to us. I wish people would reserve judgement. I am right there with you getttiong free stuff for reviews. I will def. tell people I did not purchase these items.
