On a totally different topic...I recently tried to start potty training Emily. At this age Tate already knew what he was doing on the toilet. You'd sit him down and he'd pee. Every time. But it's not working for Emily!! She peed a few times, but she of course heard it and I guess it sounded funny or something so now she will NOT pee in the toilet, no matter what. And as soon as you take her off she'll pee in her diaper! I also think it might be more difficult at this age because she's a girl. Boys at this age still pee when the cold air hits....but girls just don't do that! So she can hold it a lot better at this age than a boy could I think. Anyways, I've decided that we don't want to spend the majority of the summer sitting in the bathroom waiting for Emily to pee, so we're going to wait until fall and try again. Of course, I still sit her on the toilet before her bath every night, etc. but she never pees. Oh well...I'm not worried, she'll get it yet, but for some reason I think it might be easier to wait with girls until they're a bit older....what do you think?

way to grow Emily!
What a fun stage, right before walking when babies use a toy to push along and keep their balance.
I have no advice on potty training. We are definitely not there yet!

Just wait till she wants to do it on her own it seems to work the best that way unless you do it from birth. Its a lot less stressful on both of you. My 2 year old did this and she is potty trained but she still isn't perfect esp. when distracted by 6 other siblings. Oh well at least she goes.
Oh, the excitement of pre-walking. So cute!
When it comes to potty training, I figure you never see an adult who doesn't know where to go. So, I wouldn't worry about it. She'll learn.
I think that if you did it from birth she would probably go. E did the same exact thing when I tried when she was younger. We started around 12 months but she didn't go- and would then pee right after we took her off. E usually goes right after she wakes up. I would wait a few weeks and try again.
Yeah Emily on the walking thing. She'll get it in no time!
I always thought boys were slower at learning to go on the toilet, but i guess it just might be each individual child. I think I've heard that between 18 months and 2 years is the ultimate window for potty training. Now that we're home, I'm planning on starting with Bria. As soon as I'm back into the routine of life!
Taylor was potty trained at 16 months, got a kidney infection that she thought the toilet gave her and went back to diapers until 2 weeks after she turned 2. Callee was 2 in July and not potty trained until November (Thanksgiving time so late November.) One thing I learned with Callee is you can't force them. You can lead them, but they may not do it. It was frustrating with her, but she did it. Encourage her daily, but she'll do it in her own time...she's not going to kindergarten in diapers.
She's still really young! Let her be a baby for a while and don't force the potty training thing. She'll do it when she's ready, with a little guidance from you. She will catch on MUCH faster when she is actually ready - less stress for you, and less stress for her.
