Super Healthy Kids - and a GIVEAWAY!

Mmmmm...does that look tasty, or what?! :) Obviously Tate thought it was pretty good...look at that big spoonful! We have always tried to feed Tate food that we know is good for him - like lots of veggies and fruits, and of course protein and grains too. I have to say...his favorite though is still fruits. He loooves his fruit! But sometimes, us busy mommies forget that they need some of ALL of these food groups, and so we feed them more meat/protien and just a bit of veggies...or lots of fruit (that would include us!) and no meat/protein, etc. And did you know that kids actually will most likely have formed their eating habits for the REST of their life (!!) by the time they are 10 years old?! So if you start them off right, hopefully they will continue on eating healthy most of the time. It's so easy to just let them have cookies or cake or candy or chips or whatever though...but we don't have a lot of that kind of stuff in our house to begin with, so hopefully we can get our kids started off well! Sometimes we need a little help though...so check out this super cute plate I found at Super Healthy Kids! Here it is empty...

And here it is full of carrots, noodles and one chopped up meatball! :)

This Super Healthy Kids plate has pictures of the different food groups in each section. And this helps you to know how much they should be eating of each one! As you can see...the fruits and veggies one is the biggest!! Now, we wouldn't have a problem if we filled that up with fruit all the time...but veggies aren't quite as yummy yet in Tate's mind (unless it is peas! haha) The plate is SUPER durable too - made from 100% melamine and is definitely not 'cheaply' made! And did I mention how cute it is? ;)Tate loves eating off his new plate...and hopefully once he gets older we can show him what the pictures mean and how much of each type of food he should be having.

Now, one of you will get to win your very own Super Healthy Kids plate! And hopefully it will be helpful to you too...I know I find it super handy now when I'm dishing out a meal for Tate! In order to have one chance to win, just leave me a comment. :) And in order to have TWO chances to win, blog about the contest, linking to this post and to Super Healthy Kids, and you'll be entered twice. Contest ends April 8, 2008.

that is cute. Blake is a big meat/cheese eater and not as crazy about the fruits and veggies.

HHMM! I think I am going to have to design one for us vegan/vegetarian mommas! No spot for meat or cheese here. I do love that the veggie spot is the largest. What a clever concept.

That's a great plate. Now we all need these for ourselves too, because that's the biggest problem for ALL people, not eating the right balance of healthy foods.

Oooo- I would love one of those plates. Hailey does not like to eat fruit at all and will only eat a few veggies. Maybe this plate would help her.

You are so right parents tend to try feed kids what is fast and easy and that usually does not include balanced meals!

That is too cool! Kaelin still throws plates, though! I linked my post to your blog today!

That is such a great idea - I never thought of putting the peas or broccoli in the larger spot. DUH! Thanks for the chance!

This plate is so fiendishly clever! My daughter is not a big meat eater and as such has become a master negotiator when it comes to eating. With a plate like this maybe I can get her to eat a little more on the meat side too!

This is a great idea! Sometimes us mommies (me, lol) need a little reminder not to load up our little ones w/ protein & starches.

Oh so frustrating.. up till three weeks ago connor would eat ANYTHING I put on his plate.. ut lately thats becoming harder as now whatever he will eat today he won't necessarly eat tommorrow.. SOOO FRUSTRATING.. though pumpkin or anything peach related is always a hit.
