It's been a Long Day...

Ok. So let's start with yesterday and our day away (at a conference...but still - a day away! :) ). It went really well. Tate was good on the way there (2 hr drive) and was good the whole time we were there. He even managed to have a 2 hour nap in the nursery there - even though there were other kids in it! I was pretty surprised because he usually does not do well when there are a lot of other noises around. It probably helped though that the room with the cribs was pitch dark. He was very well behaved otherwise too and even played quietly for 1 1/2 hrs. during the ladies session that I had him in! Wow...very nice. Now...here comes the not so nice part. Sigh. The trip home. I thought he'd FOR SURE sleep all the way home since we left around his usual bedtime. But nope. Not a chance. Apparently he has forgotten that carseats are for sleeping in too. He stayed awake the entire way home (and he was not always awake and HAPPY either - because he was T-I-R-E-D!) So, we got home around 9pm and yes, he was STILL awake! So we promptly put the 'lil guy to bed...hoping - HOPING - that he would sleep a little later the next morning. Nope...he was awake at 6:30am and that was that. He would NOT go back to sleep. He gets up at 6:30am sometimes when he goes to bed at 7pm, so he was definitely lacking sleep. So since he was playing in the crib and calling "mom mom mom mom mom mom" and "up up up up up" and "juice juice" we got up and got ready for church. Church didn't go so swell either. He was okay for about 1/2 the time and then just started to get difficult. I had to take him out (for the first time in probably more than a month!) at the end because he was screaming and crying because he wasn't getting his way. Jonathan was busy doing a youth fundraiser lunch (or getting it ready with the youth) during church, so I had the sleep-deprived Tate all to myself. :)

Lunch wasn't any better. He ate...a bit of cheese. Maybe a bite or 2 of carrots and chicken. But basically nothing. He cried and squirmed the whole time in the high chair (he wanted to get out and run around)...and really didn't make lunch very fun at all. It was quite frustrating actually! And I was thinking "how in the WORLD am I ever going to do this when I have two kids and Jonathan can't be around to help?" Oh. My. Anyways, right after I was done eating, I took him and we went home for naptime. He did sleep for 2 1/2 hrs. at naptime so that was nice. But it sure didn't seem to help his mood any!! He was cranky ALLLLLL night long. Anything that didn't go exactly his was was worth CRYING and getting upset over. And guess what the only thing he would eat for supper was? Yep. Cheese. That's it. He had a FIT when we tried to give him some meat and potatoes! It's so hard to tell if it's just cuz he's not feeling good, or if it's because he's just being difficult. Because if he's just being difficult I will NOT put up with this kind of behavior. If he's not feeling well...that's another story.

After supper he cleaned up (for some reason that was fun!) and the cried when we had to go for bathtime and cried when we had to go to bed...but now, I think he's finally sleeping - so here's hoping that tomorrow he will wake up a much happier little boy. And that we will have a much better, much less frustrating, much happier day!

P.S. Don't forget to enter my giveaway for this week!! Tomorrow's the last day!

That's no fun! I seriously have patience issues to begin with, so I don't do well in those situations. Keith is usually much better at dealing with whining. I hope Tate slept well for you!

I am sure that today will be a better day - screwing around with the little ones cycles can be a bit stressful but just like us they bounce back. We dealt with it coming back from GA last week too. Good luck!

Gavin used to act like a crazy man if his nap or bedtime schedule was messed up. It took a couple of days to get back to normal. Hopefully Tate is back to his happy self!

If your child will travel 2 hours without freaking, you have a miracle baby. Congratulations.

Love the blog.

of that sinks! He will probably just be out of sync for a bit. Pray for us, we are driving from Indiana to Southern Florida at the end of the week. With the 2 girls in the backseat....are we crazy or what? I guess I'm desperate for a vacations!

You never can tell if they're going to roll with the punches or be stick in the muds! My Kaelin is a little cheesehead herself!

Oh, I'm sorry! I would guess that Tate could be teething since he is still working on teeth and of course being overtired doesn't help any! This isn't his usual behavior so I'm guessing it is something. When you have two...you will find a way. It isn't always easy, but you will find your way. And for sll the rest...we are here!

It's hard but this too shall pass...
it's always hard when babies are cranky or tired, or sick because we feel powerless to help. It usually works itself out.
