Chicken Pox Party!!
Today we went over to visit someone!! And we had a chicken pox party! haha...well, it wasn't really a party, but we did go and visit someone who has THREE kids who have the chicken pox....on purpose! We met the mom while grocery shopping this morning and she said 3 out of 4 of her kids were home with the chicken pox that day...so I asked if I could come over with Tate! ha! She thought I was joking at first! But I REALLY wasn't joking!! I SO BADLY want Tate to get the chicken pox when he is young!! He doesn't know how to itch yet...it's easy to keep him home and indoors while he is sick...and you don't get it NEARLY NEARLY as severely as you most likely would when you were older. So...it really is better to get it when you are young!! I know some you will probably think I am nuts - but I'm not. :) Honestly - it's best...for those reasons I said up there AND because then he'll have a lifetime immunity to chicken pox (and no...vaccines DON'T give you a lifetime immunity at all - because this lady kept telling me "I don't know why my kids got chicken pox...they've all had their shots!" Yet 3 out of 4 of her kids have chicken pox now.) Okay...so on with the story. After Jonathan and I asked her a 2nd time if I could come over with Tate because we wanted him to get the chicken pox when we were young she just stopped and looked at us kinda strangely for a second (I think she thought we were crazy! haha.), but then she said "well, if you really want to come over, you can!" So, I phoned once we got home to make sure it really was OK with her if we came over for a bit....and she said it was fine. So, after a short nap, we headed over for our Chicken Pox Party! Tate had fun. :) The kids liked having him there 2...although 2 of them basically stayed upstairs most of the time. Now all we have to do is cross our fingers and hope that he caught it!!! ;) I'll keep you posted...

You are right about the chicken pox, when I was little I gave them to my Mom and she was very, very ill. It is so much better for them to get it when they are small. Good luck, I hope Tate gets the chicken pox.
Just be careful though. One of my toddlers a few years ago had the chicken pox and he was comatose in the hospital for 5 weeks because of them. I know its better to get them when you are younger, but it's still not safe.
Yeah I wanted my kids to get them too. Especially Merci, because it can be deadly to your unborn baby if you get them when preggo. I did the same thing once, but she didn't get them.
Yep, I did the same thing when my kids were little. Biggest reason I did it is because I was 14 when I had the pox and it was very bad. The docs said the older you are the harder it is on you. Good idea to get it over with now. :)
i had chicken pox first then my mom let my three other siblings to join me in the room and in no time, they had chicken pox too. haha! but i think it's not safe for you to be around people who's sick because of your condition, right? you take care, ok?
oh, btw, thanks for praying for my husband. thank you really.
My nieces had them a couple of years ago, and we tried to pass them on to my girls -- but we were a day or two too late...they were already passed the contagious stage. And now I can't find ANYBODY with chicken pox. Everyone is getting the vaccine for it now...but yeah, it doesn't give 100% immunity, and certainly not for life.
I'm hoping this will be the year.....
that's funny that she thought you were strange :) I think it makes sense.. but maybe she never heard of pox parties before.. If I were to hear of one, I would go!
Try the chix pox vaccine - TWO of my THREE kids got the chix pox FROM THE VACCINE!
WTHeck?!
I had them twice, know others that have too. Not once for everyone. I had them when I was a small child, then again at about 7 or 8 years old. It was miserable!
My kids had the vaccine, all of them, not chicken pox here so far. Ironic one of thier favorite books to read is "Goldie Locks has Chicken Pox". Check it out, it's very cute!
This brings back childhood memories for me . . . somewhere along the way, I got the chicken pox, but nobody knew - I never actually broke out. So for my must of my childhood, my parents would take me to play with whomever happened to have the chicken pox that week . . . be it cousins, friends, classmates, random people we met in the store (yes, it happened to me, too!) :-) I never actually broke out . . . they made me get tested for immunity before I got prego just to make sure! So, maybe your little dude will luck out and "get" the pox without actually "getting" them :-)
Good luck with the chicken pox! I do get my kid vacinnated, but I agree that it is better to get it when you are younger.
