Learning in the womb!

Did you know that you can teach your baby in the WOMB?!?! I'd never heard of anything like that before...other than doing the usual, like playing music, talking to them, etc. - but I never knew there was anything else you could do! Recently I received something called the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System to review!! Yeah...prenatal education!! Wowzers! :) I better have one smart baby in June! haha ;) It actually sounds pretty neat though! And it has undergone more than 20 years of research, and it has been tested and tried by many other parents, doctors and scientists...so now it's my turn! Soooo, what is it exactly? Well, really it's a little device (which you put in a pouch around your belly) that introduces patterns of sound to your unborn child in a language that he or she understands! Now...you may be wondering, what kind of language would an unborn child understand, and how would we know what they understand or don't understand?! Well, it actually makes a lot of sense when you hear that this language is actually the maternal heartbeat - of course a baby would understand this language...it is what they hear from the time they are conceived - and even after they are born, what baby doesn't love to be held close to his/her mommy's heart!! And as you use BabyPlus, your little one will begine to discriminate the simple rhythmic sounds of BabyPlus from those of the mother - and learning begins! The BabyPlus system is safe to use - it's nothing different than the baby hearing sounds normal from outside the womb, it's just that these are specifically for baby!
Hmmm...and benefits?! What are they exactly? Well, I can't speak from experience (yet!) on this since this is the first time I have used something like this...but other parents who have used BabyPlus say that these are the advantages:

**babies are more relaxed, alert, responsive and interactive at birth and infancy
**babies have an increased ability to soothe themselves
**later in life these children demonstrate earlier developmental milestones, longer attention spans, and improved readiness for school.
That's pretty good sounding to me! I mean, who wouldn't want a baby that can soothe themselves easier, etc!! If you want to read some actual testimonies on the BabyPlus system click here.

Sounds interesting, doesn't it? I'm looking forward to giving it a try with this pregnancy and seeing how it works...it can't hurt!! :)

Wow Andrea! That sounds very interesting! Let me know how you feel this worked as I too would be very interested in trying something like this should I ever talk my hubby into number 3.

I've just come across this old blog post about learning in the womb. I'm 13 weeks pregnant and obviously interested in learning as much as possible about this.

How did it work out for you and your baby?
